How to download your Netflix data, and how long the wait actually is
Netflix takes about six steps on the website and then emails you twice. Netflix states a request can take up to 30 days, it is reported to usually arrive within a couple of days, and once it is ready you have seven days to download it. Written 2026-08-24.
The exact taps, in order
Your part of this is about two to four minutes. Everything after that is Netflix taking its time, and
nothing you do speeds it up.
Sign in on the web Open netflix.com in a browser. The TV app and the phone app do not have this screen.
Open Account Click your profile icon at the top right, then Account.
Find Download your personal information On the current account page it sits under the security and privacy section.
Submit the request Netflix asks you to confirm which account it is for.
Click the link in the first email Nothing is built until you confirm from your inbox. This is where most Netflix requests quietly stop.
Wait for the second email It tells you the file is ready and points you back to the account page.
Download within seven days Netflix gives you seven days from the moment the file is ready. After that the request starts again.

How big the file is

MESSAGES What Netflix sent you and what you opened.
DEVICES, IP_ADDRESSES, PAYMENT_AND_BILLING Where you watched from and how you paid.
What is missing from it
Not in the file, whatever anyone tells you
The taste cluster Netflix files you in. The recommendation grouping is not in the export and Netflix does not publish it.
Why a title was recommended, or which artwork variant you were shown and why.
The percentage of each title you finished, beyond the duration column you can work it out from.
Anything from a cancelled account beyond Netflix's retention period.

Netflix gives you seven days to download the file once it is ready. Miss it and you go back to the start of a wait that Netflix says can run to 30 days.

Every wait window and every file size here is reported, not measured by us. It comes
from the platform's own published help pages and from what people consistently say happens, and platforms
change both without telling anyone. When we have a request we timed ourselves, this page will say measured

In the CONTENT_INTERACTION folder, in the viewing activity CSV. It lists title, date, device and how long the session ran, per profile.
Does the free Count read Netflix exports?
Not yet. The Count reads TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Google, Spotify, X, LinkedIn and Amazon exports. We would rather say that plainly than have you drop a file in and watch nothing happen.
